Ode To Arista

The Ode To Arista sculpture series explores the filial connection between an infant daughter and her grandmother through the use of code symbols to communicate the powerful pre-verbal bond that transcends time and space.

As a young girl, I vividly remember the texture of my grandmother's voice and the powder soft skin I touched with my little hands. Although the memories are wordless, they speak volumes about the warmth, love, and elegant strength that radiated from her presence.

In this series I contrast the volume and weight of the vessels (representing our ability to recall our emotional connection) with the symbolic staccato of distant memories. This apparent contrast invites the viewer to reflect on the enduring impact of essence in dynamic relationship with connection and factual recall.
